Career and Technology

There is no need to explain how big a part of our lives technology is. Everyone is now aware of this situation. Every professional and all university students, regardless of their profession, need to develop their technology competencies in order to make a difference, to progress quickly, and to have globally valid competencies.

As seen in McKinsey's Future of Our Business research (2020), Social, Advanced Cognitive and Technological competencies have gained and will continue to gain more importance than other competencies. In the coming years, business processes will continue to change digitally, and new technologies will require the implementation of new ways of doing business. In a much more competitive environment, versatile employees who can think creatively, who are dynamic, who can change the existing ways of doing business in line with the requirements of the time, and who have developed themselves in different fields will come to the forefront.

In this transformation process, individuals will be able to become versatile professionals by continuously improving themselves, strengthening themselves socially and cognitively, being present in digitalisation projects related to their professions, and will find opportunities to encounter lifelong flexible career paths.

It will be much easier to reach career paths for people who can analyse processes well, read and evaluate data well, have strong communication competencies, research technology, and think about how the process or system can be better / more effective.

In order to progress in technology processes and to make a career in this field, it is not necessary to graduate from engineering departments. Graduates of departments such as Business Administration, Economics, Econometrics with the above-mentioned characteristics can also be extremely successful in roles such as Business Analyst, Business Solutions Consultancy, etc., where they can combine their process / system knowledge and technology knowledge. During their university education, people in these departments can make a difference by taking courses such as Business Analyst, Big Data, Programming. When evaluating career options, thinking in a multidimensional way and combining different types of competences can open new doors.
